My husband needed to get away from the stresses of his work so I planned a surprise overnight getaway for him. I found Morris House Hotel online and it was just what I wanted. When I pulled the car up in front of the hotel, he said in awe, “is this where we’re staying?” We both love historical places and this place is packed with it. The concierge was able to tell us about the history of the house and also stories about the restoration. It has been tastefully restored with all the comforts of home. It’s my ideal place! History in comfort and style!
An elegant surprise in the center of town.

I’ve stayed at the Morris House Hotel several times and each time I am more impressed with the beautiful and elegant restoration work that was done on this property. It is gorgeous. The rooms are large and perfectly decorated, the service is excellent and their new on-site restaurant is superb. And you can’t beat the location…right in the center of town, close to everything. Say hello to Angel Diaz, their charming and helpful innkeeper, for me!
In the city but a world away

If you want to enjoy the culture, arts, and excitement of the city of brotherly love but do not want to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of it all, then Morris House is the place! Staying here is like staying a world away from the speed of the city but you just have to walk out your door and a few blocks and you can either be in the middle of the history, the arts or the culture of Philadelphia. The house is beautiful and peaceful. The staff is superb at making your stay comfortable and relaxing.

Great service, great food and a classy ambiance. We had a spectacular dining experience for my birthday dinner. Our waiter and the entire service team provided superb service. Our Humboldt fog cheese, turnip soup, pear salad, octopus appetizer and braised short ribs were all extraordinary. We will be back soon!
From the smartest bartender, to the wonderful, creative food and presentation, M proved to me it is worthy of 5 stars. Starting with the cheese plate, 6 choices from soft to hard, the selection was perfect. Presented by the cheese sommelier with an introduction of each, added to the anticipation of which proved to be an extreme highlight. The “cavatelli and fiori pasta” had both rich and fresh flavors, which made your palate yearn for the next dish. And so it came, the short rib. Tender, no fat, melt in your mouth, warm, delectable, comforting and probably the best short rib this side of Gramercy Tavern in NYC. The wine list was not overwhelming and not extensive…so be it. The selection was adequate. A varied crowd, from old to young, but certainly respectable and relaxed “up scale”. Perfect for a Saturday evening. Oh my, I am going back for more. I loved this place.
As long as there is a room available at the Morris House, I won’t stay anywhere else in Philadelphia. The staff were very helpful. We showed up at 8 AM after a red-eye flight, knowing that check-in wasn’t until 3. They invited us to partake of the breakfast, allowed us to purchase a pass to the affiliated gym and rest in the lounge. They expedited the room cleaning and we were checked in by 1:00. The building is charming, including the courtyard where the wedding we were in town for took place. The rooms are comfortable and have individual personality. The breakfast is delicious. The location can’t be beat.
